Duncan City Totem Tour In the winter months you can enjoy a self-guided Duncan City Totem Tour by following the yellow footprints around the downtown core in the city of Duncan. You will experience a wonderful outdoor event by viewing over 40 totem poles, including the world widest one. This is a free event for which you can pick up a map from Duncan Cowichan Visitor center at 361 Trans Canada Highway. Phillipa Hudson: Coastal Magic Victoria artist Phillipa Hudson recently received a prestigious commission from the Fairmont Hotel - Chateau Lake Louise to create three large 6’ x 8’ paintings to be installed June, 2013. Phillipa Hudson was born in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), and obtained an arts degree at the University of Cape Town before working in London and Cambridge in England. She moved to Canada in the late 1970's and to Vancouver Island in 1981. Eclectic is pleased to present Phee in her latest show- "Coastal Magic". Race to the End of the Earth Race to the End of the Earth recounts one of the most stirring tales of Antarctic exploration: the quest to be the first to reach the South Pole in 1911-1912. The exhibition explores the epic adventures of Norwegian Roald Amundsen and Captain Robert Falcon Scott of the British Royal Navy on their respective 3,000-kilometre (1,800-mile) journeys from the edge of the Ross Ice Shelf to the Pole and back. Race to the End of the Earth features photographs, paintings, and original artifacts from Amundsen’s and Scott’s expeditions, placing visitors in the midst of Antarctic exploration and research at the dawn of the last century.
